Back Again

I have literally no clue where the last 2 months went. I've missed you all, missed catching up on everyone's posts and projects, but at the same time I had just totally lost interest in everything. I haven't picked up a hook in weeks. I suppose dealing with the loss of my Dad this is to be expected, and I've tried to just sort of go with the flow and not put too much expectation on myself.

Since my last post I've been over to Norn Irn twice, once to help my Mum after she had an operation on her leg (she's fine, nothing to worry about), and then we all as a family went over for a week at half-term. It's still hard going over there and for my Dad to not be around, but we did manage some fun days out with the children, and with their cousins 😀😀 the weather was AmAzInG - blue skies, sunshine, not a drop of rain all week. Perfect.

Here's a few, ok a LOT, of photos from our trip ....

We've been back a couple of weeks and the house is in total disarray as we are having it decorated at the minute. I've really missed my crochet and have decided to pick up the hook again this weekend - just got to pick a project :)  I'll be back soon with hopefully with details of whatever I choose to work on, and definitely with some exciting yarn photos 😊

Til then .....

  1. Welcome back Jill, it is good to hear from you. Beautiful photos and wonderful blue skies. It looks like you had a great half term and I love those beach huts! Take it easy and enjoy your crochet this weekend. Just take each day as it comes as it is only natural to feel as you do.

  9. No worries my friend, losing your Dad will take time to learn to live with. Things seem so out of balance for a long time after losing a parent. Glad you had a good visit and that you are crocheting again, that will help.
    Hugs,

  10. Life, with it's ups and downs takes lots of adjustments. It will take awhile to live with the new normal in your family. Your friends here in blogland will be waiting for you when you're ready to visit more often. Life is never really the same after you lose a parent. Love all of your pictures but especially the little round house. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  13. Jill, I loved seeing your travel photos, and especially the family selfie :) Last night my oldest son sent me a heartfelt text expressing his love for his adoptive father, my much missed husband, who died almost 7 years ago. Tomorrow is Father's Day in the USA, and I was talking with my youngest son this morning about how strange it still feels to me at the age of 65 to not have my father alive as well as my dear husband. But I am grateful for the good memories I have of them and I can celebrate their lives more easily now than in the first years after their deaths.
Creative pursuits like crocheting with other loved ones help with this transition, too. Love to you and yours as you continue to grow with your new normal. xxxxx

Enjoy the crochet and the yarn-good therapy! (Thanks for stopping by my blog! I do use an accuquilt cutter to do the applique!)

  16. Beautiful photos. My advice is don't try and rush and feel guilty that you are not crafting or reading, it will all come back in time. I was an avid cross stitcher and after my Dad died five years ago it was at least two years before I could pick up a needle and I have never got back into it really in the same way I had before. However crochet has now taken over the life (it seems) but I still want to get back to my cross stitch one day. xx
